Sustainability

 

Our mission is to have clothing and other products that are made from sustainable materials and/or are made ethically and/or sustainably. More details about the sustainability and/or ethicality of each product will be listed in each product description.

 

Shipping

A lot e-commerce brands out there don't use eco-friendly materials when it comes to their shipping. I wanted to make this a priority at Lilac Skies, since there is so much waste when it comes to packaging. 

 

To protect our garments during shipping, we use compostable garment bags that are certified home and commercially compostable that breaks down in 180 and 90 days respectively. 

To ship our garments, we use a recycled mailer made from 100% recycled plastics. They are recyclable where soft plastics are accepted after use. The mailers also come with 2 adhesive strips so customers can reuse them again.

To ship other products, we use 100% recycled or 95% post consumer waste, plastic free, curbside recyclable, naturally biodegradable, and made in the USA kraft boxes.
We also use 50% recycled white bubble mailers (made in the USA) that are reusable via a 2nd adhesive strip. There is a QR code on the bubble mailer that gives more information about a take back recycle program through EcoEnclose or there's information about how to recycle the mailer at a store near you!

Tape isn't always recyclable! That's why we moved over to kraft paper water activated tape that is printed with algae ink! It is plastic free, made from renewable resources and is curb-side recyclable (meaning that it won't make boxes unrecyclable).
